Paleogenetics: Neanderthal DNA

Analyses on Neanderthal DNA indicate that Homo sapiens (modern humans, you and me) diverged from Homo neanderthalensis about 370,000 years ago. The first modern humans show up in the fossil record around 200,000 years ago.

It's free to read the abstract in Science magazine, but viewing the research paper requires a subscription.

I disagree with evolution entirely, but the abstract was interesting to read nonetheless.

I agree with you, Sisi. Science can be interesting just for the process. The details of these results will probably change soon as other scientists do their own tests anyway.

I'm with you Sisi and Adele. Evolution theory has too many holes. And for 10 , 50, 100 or more years I think this theory will be abandoned .

I find science fascinating simply because it can change as new facts are discovered. It's a very flexible system, always striving for the truth, even if it's distracted a bit along the way.
